TOPIC: Trade Mark Update
Ed and Ben will discuss recent cases in the area of trade marks law and provide his views on various decisions.
SPEAKERS: Ed Heerey QC, Barrister, Sydney and Melbourne BarEd Heerey QC is a well-known barrister having recently been ranked by Best Lawyers International as one of Melbourne’s best intellectual property lawyers.  Ed has also been recognised as a preeminent intellectual property barrister by Doyle’s Guide to the Australian Legal Profession and as a “gold” standard counsel by the World Trademark Review.

Ed has been a long-time supporter of IPSANZ, and is coming to Adelaide this February as a part of his annual Australian “roadshow” in which he visits Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and New Zealand to give IPSANZ members and other attendees an update on recent developments in the area of trade marks.

Ed is a perennial favourite of our members, as his presentations are succinct, informative and entertaining.


Ben Gardiner, Barrister, Queensland Bar

Ben Gardiner was admitted to the Queensland Bar in 2004 and practised at the Victorian Bar from 2008 until returning to Queensland in 2014.

Ben has been recognized by the Doyle’s guide as Queensland’s pre-eminent IP junior counsel.
